Jorge Fernandez, Kirmen Uribe and Julio Alegria received their awards over the course of the Txakoli Eguna held on 26 April in the Ensanche Market during the official presentation of the 2009 vintage.

On a cold and rainy afternoon, the Mendibile Palace became, once again, the "must" rendezvous for all wine lovers and connoisseurs who wished to savour the new vintage in which the Txakoli tastes of quality.

The chosen for the participation in the I Prize Ipar Kutxa are twelve bars in the category of "bar" and four restaurants in that of "table".

Past 8th and 9th June was celebrated the III Contest of the Wines from the Northwest, with the participation of several wine cellars of this Denomination of Origin.

Gurrutxaga and Uriondo were the two highest scoring txakolis from the txakolis given points by the most influential critic in the world.

15% more than in 2008 have been elaborated. Although it has not been an easy year, the quality of the vintage can be classified as very good.

The new vineyards and less adverse weather conditions makes the Regulatory Council´s forecasts for this vintage be set in the region of 1.3 million litres.

Already it lacks less to begin the new season 2008-2009 and we have some informative data of the vintage that leave behind.

Following the success of the recent presentation in Madrid, Bizkaiko Txakolina will be present at Alimentaria and participate in one of the tastings.

The XXIII edition of the Prizes Baco (Spanish Union of Tasters) has included a txakoli of Bizkaia among the best young wines of the crop 2008.

Just as we had announced, after the elections of our Regulating Counsel, celebrated at the beginning of year, already we arrange of new representatives.

The 2008 harvest will always be remembered as the first in which the Bizkaiko Txakolina A.O.C. exceeded the barrier of one million litres of wine.

Bizkaiko Txakolina sponsors Bizkaiko Bertsolari Txapelketa, that the next one will be celebrated 20 of December in the Bilbao Exposition Center of Barakaldo.

Bizkaiko Txakolina travels to the New Values of the Spanish Wine showroom, in USA, while collaborates in Dialogues of Kitchen, in San Sebastian.

The new Ambassadors of the Bizkaiko Txakolina received their awards in the Txakoli Day held last 22nd April in the Ensanche Market (Bilbao).

This year's txakoli is fresher and more aromatic than that of previous years. The production -905,000 litres- has been slightly less than in 2006.

This is the first Vendimia Tardía (late grape harvest) with the back label granted by the Regulatory Council for this type of special wine.

Recovering an ancient tradition of our people, the first 300 bottles of the 2007 season of Bizkaiko Txakolina were presented.
