MENDIBILE JAUREGIA: From yesterday to tomorrow

A wonderfull place
The Mendibile Palace, one of the buildings that make up part of the Historical Heritage of Leioa, has a history full of mysteries. Its origins are somewhat uncertain, so there is no exact date of the time of its construction; neither do we know who the promoter of this country house was, or who the first owners were.
The more than three centuries of history that Mendibile has have led it to experience two fundamental periods. The first of them was that of its construction, that because of some of its formal details can be dated to the last years of the 17th century.
Up to the middle of the 20th century Mendibile seems not to have undergone great changes. It was then that its interior was renovated almost in its entirety, in order to transform the two original dwellings into six.
Its remodelling signified recovering an important part of the past history of the town, and therefore, the typological, constructive or artistic aspects and elements that are distinctive of the building were preserved.
With the effort and collaboration of all, Mendibile Jauregia undertook the management of the Museum of the Txakoli de Bizkaia as well as of its different facilities with the objective of offering an area for meetings and reflection, for communication and projection to the outside for the Basque food and agricultural sector in its challenge to make itself known with basically traditional and high-quality products.
It also undertook the vocation of becoming a Business Center for any company or institution, also in the secondary and tertiary sectors, that look for an incomparable frame for their meetings or events and with appropriate services.
